What Conditions Can Be Treated?
Shockwave Therapy can be used to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions particularly those involving areas where major connective tissue attaches to bone e.g. plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, patellar tendonitis, tennis or golfer's elbow, rotator cuff tendonitis, trochanteric bursitis and myofascial trigger points.
What are the Advantages?
Quickly reduces pain, no medication needed, avoid surgery, no side effects, no risk of allergy, accelerates healing
How does Shockwave work?
Shockwaves accelrerate the healing process by stimulating cells in the body to repair more quickly. It is particularly helpful in cases where the body has been unable to repair on it's own. In essence it acts as a "kickstart" to stimulate the metabolism and enhance blood circulation. This enables the damaged tissue to regenerate and eventually heal.
How long does Treatment Last?
Sessions take about 15 minutes depending on the condition and in general 3-5 sessions are necessary at weekly intervals.
After only 3 sessions most patients report painlessness or significant pain reduction. This pain reduction/elimination leads to restoration of full mobility and thus improving quality of life. Repeated treatments may enhance efficacy.
